CONVERSION / INITIATION

"My fiance, Jon, and I were engaged for almost a year before we decided to have a Jewish wedding.  At that point we only had six months remaining before our wedding day, and I was concerned that I would not have enough time to convert before the big day.  Then we met Melissa.  Her optimism and excitement about my conversion convinced me that I would be able to do it in time.  So we met every week over Skype, and had a lesson.  My lessons were thought provoking and illuminating.  When the time came for my conversion ceremony, I was ready, armed with knowledge provided to me by Melissa, but also with my own thoughts and convictions.  I was emotional throughout my time at the Mayyim Hayyim Mikveh - it was an extremely special experience. I felt so accepted and appreciated by everyone who participated in the ceremony.  Also, I had an all woman Beit Din! This was also very special to me, and I am so thankful to have been in the presence of 4 wonderful women rabbis and cantors!
